Description

The new catch phrase for Hawaiian Grown may soon be "pupu kine!" This savory snack dish of specially seasoned edamame is definitely pupu kine! Originally used as a shabu shabu sauce, we tweaked it to enhance the great taste of warm edamame. This dish is one of those snacks that you just can't stop eating! Not to worry, edamame is good for you.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Edamamae (soybeans- usually frozen, any brand)
  • 2 T Chili-Garlic Paste (any brand)
  • 1 T Sesame Oil
  • 1 T Kikkoman Shoyu
  • 2 pn Katsuo Boshi (bonito flakes .aka. dried aku)
  • 1 pn Sesame Seeds (white)

Instructions

In a medium pot, fill with enough water to cover edamame. Bring to a boil. Rinse with cold water, strain then transfer to a mixing bowl. Add chili garlic sauce, sesame oil, soy sauce, katsuo boshi and sesame seeds. Mix well. Serve immediately. Enjoy!

Notes

If you want to add any other ingredients like fish sauce or sweeten it with a little honey, please feel free to do so. Edamame is sold both in and out of its natural pods. This snack can be manipulated with both. Find these ingredients, and enjoy this recipe with a chilled glass of Primo, Asahi, Sapporo or Kirin beer found at your nearest Times Supermarket! Shoots Den!
