Description

So simple yet so good! One of the ultimate pupu items is always ahi sashimi! But add a little onions, jalapeno and even your own vinaigrette or chili pepper water to make a winner recipe. Try to add anything to this dish to make it your own, or not at all, and pick it up at Hanapa'a Sushi Co.!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Fresh Ahi (thinly sliced)- Hawaiian Big-Eye Tuna Is Best
  • 1 Jalapeno (thinly sliced)
  • 1 Ewa Sweet Onion- small (thinly sliced)
  • 1 t Green onion (finely sliced)
  • 1 pn White Sesame Seeds
  • 2 T Shoyu or vinaigrette of your choice
  • 5 Chiso leaves- chiffonade "roll cut thin" (1 chiso leaf per every 3 pcs of fish)

Instructions

Simply cut ahi into thin bite size pieces. On a cold plate, lay the sliced ahi spread out to your liking. Top each slice of sashimi with jalapeno, onion, green onion, chiso and sesame seeds. Drizzle your shoyu or vinaigrette aggressively over the sashimi and garnishes. Serve immediately. Enjoy!

Notes

To add more flavor, add thinly sliced fresh or fried garlic to give texture and a bit more aromatic profile. Also wasabi and soy sauce is the ubiquitous choice for this dish as a base condiment. Add fresh limu to give this dish a "de-constructed poke" flavor. Feel free to substitute any other sashimi grade fish with this recipe. Find these ingredients, and enjoy this recipe with a chilled glass of Primo, Asahi, Sapporo or Kirin beer found at your nearest Times Supermarket! Shoots Den!
